Have you watched any of the Youtube videos about killing a kit? It’s a term scrapbook kit club members use in reference to using every last scrap in their kit. Some ladies on Youtube document the 10, 15, even 20 layouts they make with their kits.
I’ve started watching a few but can’t quite get through even one. I never understood the appeal but now that I’ve joined a kit club again, I’m starting to get it. Since my account was just charged again, my September Cocoa Daisy kit will be arriving via snail mail any day now. I still have a lot of papers and embellishments from the August kit left to use though. That doesn’t bother me per se. I’ve been collecting products for about 14 years now and if I love it, it gets used eventually.
But with a new kit on the way it’s hard not to feel compelled to use up as much of the current kit as you can. Everything coordinates so perfectly you just hate to break it up too soon. So far, I’ve made three pages — a 2-pager and a 1 pager — but I still have these papers left over:

There are several sheets of 12×12 papers and a few sheets of cardstock too. Three of the sheets in back are from Basic Grey’s Carte Postal collection. I have a few other papers from that collection in my stash so I don’t mind adding a few more.
With time running out and no photos currently in mind, I picked through the leftovers and decided to create a starting point with some of the remaining bits and pieces.

I admire the ladies who can actually stick to the kit. So far, I haven’t been able to do that. I only buy the main kit though and when the kit isn’t enough, pull from my stash. For this starting point, the background chevron paper came from the kit, as did the cardstock. But I did add in the B-side of the Stamp Book paper from October Afternoon’s Travel Girl collection. I had already used a few strips from the A-side in another layout so and since it coordinated so well with these papers, it was the perfect addition.

This is what I ended up with. All I had to do was cut up a few of the cards from the cut apart sheet and I even used one of the branding strip cut-offs as an accent.
For me, that is enough with this kit. I bundled all of the remaining embellishment pieces into a bag and will keep it with this starting point. Once I figure out which photos to add, I’ll be able to finish the page with the remaining embellishments.
Now my work space is clear and I’m looking forward to a new box this week!
